Library of Congress

The Library of Congress is a very impressive website that contains many primary documents from the past.  When doing research on this site, be specific for what you are looking for. 

 

 

Crash Course:  U.S. History

If for any reason, you do not understand the content that we are covering in class, I guarantee that this website has a video to explain in great detail.  You also may recognize a few of these videos that we have watched throughout the year.

 

 

iCivics

This website has a large variety of games to help you learn more about the Constitution, or to even test what you already know.  Within the site you can earn badges, compete against others using a class leaderboard, and even earn points that can be donated to a service project that iCivics will assist if that project receives the most points through the year.

 

 

Preparing for the Oath

Many people enter this country as a foreigner, with the hopes of becoming a U.S. citizen.  The final step that they have to take is to pass a U.S. history test.  This website expands on information that we have learned in class and allows for you to test whether you understand what we have covered.

 

 

Manifest Destiny:  The Story of the U.S. Told in 141 Maps

This website does exactly what is stated in the title.  We as a nation have expanded our borders and changed our boundaries on many occassions.  This interactive website will show the changes we have made and provide more information to how this change was made.

 

 

Flight to Freedom

Within this website, you will take the role of a slave trying to escape to freedom.  You will have a variety of options and missions to complete, to see if you truly can make it to freedom.

 

 

Slavery Footprint

Although slavery is illegal throughout the world today, it unfortunately still occurs, even in the United States.  Many of the products that we purchase on a daily basis have some sort of ties to modern slavery.  This website will show an estimate of how many slaves around the world, make the products that you love.

 

 

Gapminder

This excellent website uses statistics from the Census to compare countries side by side.  Even cooler, you can take a look at many of these statistics and watch how the countries around the world have changed throughout history.

 

 

View Change

Individuals around the world are making a change in many terrible situations that we could not even imagine.  This website hopefully will inspire you to make a change in our community.

 

 

Channel One News

This website is an excellent news source for you to use.  The website contains daily shows for current events and also provides many articles for you to read.
